Yearbook Review Homework

In our class we started with other project called " Yearbook " and in this project we had to make a yearbook of our self and we choose our own group members. And so I worked with my friends Paul M. and Edgar M. , my role in the project was to be the Art Designer. Also as a Art Designer I had to put all the layout of how the yearbook is going to come out and where is the information and photos going , and my group members Paul M. was the photographer and Edgar M. the Editor. Plus, I think we didn't do good in the yearbook because I did my part of the work and  Paul did his work but wrong and still can't work with the layers of Design. As well, Edgar wasn't here for 3 days so he didn't finish his work and we couldn't get his work to add it on mine so we can all have it together. In the other hand, I had to help Paul with his work because he had everything in all the places and also I did 6 pages in the yearbook, Edgar & Paul did 5 pages and I still try my best to do it all. And I feel like I did a good job in my role because I made a layout of how and which parts everyone is doing. Finally, from the 3 of us in the group I think I did a good job and I think I also needed a little more information and more pictures because I only used like 3 or 4.

She had three good pictures of food in our cafeteria and she had three good columns as her other members of her group. I like her title of her newsletter with a good text and hawks around it. She also had 3 pictures, but what I think is that she could of get more better pictures of real food like pizza, chicken, etc and plus she had her page #. He had three pictures, but I think next time he could of got more better pictures to put on this newsletter. I think he had his newsletter in consistent but this pictures and his text were a little bit bad like this were in different places. Reflection To Project 5 - Brochure

In our class we finished our project called Brochures and so in this project we had to make a brochure for any person that has a business and would liked us to make a brochure for them. And also this time we choose our own classmate to work with. As well I was working with Paul & Rory on a brochure for a business that was for a DJ Seller Equipment. So I went out to talk to our client and I asked some questions that I had to do in my Client Review Sheet. Also, I had some information and my classmates and me we decide to put red backgrounds and on top a yellow background , but we did that so the text what we were going to use was black and so the people can read it. Plus, we used the same text and same size of the text and we put the information as well the pictures that our client wanted on their brochure that they wanted for us to work on. I think we did a good job, we had few errors but I think I worked good with my classmates in a project together.

Reflection Of The Project 6 - Newsletter

In our class we finished another project called " Newsletter " it was a newsletter for our school. And so the project was divide by different groups of 3 students to work on a part of the newsletter. So my two classmates that I was working was James & Deshon, as well we got the part of the schools news in the newsletter. As well, my classmates and I we decide to use 3 columns for our part as we put the schools news. And we also used the same font, plus the same size of text so everything can come out similar. In the other hand, like we were doing the schools news we plan to talk about the after-school tutoring/Saturday regents prep James did that part , also the Riis program that Reshon did that part in our school. And the part that I was going to do was both but as a little cover in the in the newsletter. We all helped each other in our group, but like I didn't go to school for 3 days I didn't finish my project. Finally, I am going to try to finish the project if I can't well I had a note of why I wasn't in school finishing up the project.

Brochure Idea Homework - 3/21/2013

In this new project that my class got to do is to do a brochure for a someone that has a company or wants to make a company. And so in this project  I got a client named Sonia P., also she would like us to do a brochure for her company that is a Dj Equipment Seller. Also she want this brochure because she needs one and she wants to let everyone what she does, plus she wants to see what we can do. As well if she likes it, she can even pay us to do more and more for her business. In the the other hand we decided to do the do all the panels, but we are going to do mostly more of second - fourth panel with the Headlines, images, and more. Finally, also one plan for this brochure is that we can all help each other with any panels or we can switch roles of what to do if they want.
The brochure that my 2 friends and I are going to do is going to be divide, like in the group I'm going to do the second, third, and fourth panels. And my two members of the group they are going to do the first, fifth, and the sixth panels. Also I chose to do the second - fourth panels in this brochure, because I got some ideas and images of that to put on the inside of the brochure. Plus, the other members can do the other 3 panels, so they can help me and get something done. In the other hand, I would share my work to them in there computer or some other way so they can agree with it or they can tell me what I can change to make it better.

Reflection Blog - Project 4

Using complete paragraphs, answer each question on your blog. Email the link to view your posting by the end of the class.

1. What was the goal of Project 4?
My goal for Project 4 was to aim the client's logo for it Quinoa company. And I took notes also when my group interview the client for the first time.  Also I went online to see other advertisements of Quinoa and to get a little of idea what can I put on the logo. For example I can get the color or the font of the text I can use to write Quinoa Or I can get a little idea of a background. As well in the second time when my group meet with client my logo didn't match my notes, but with the ideas that later on the client wanted and told us again what he wanted so I did it, as well I think I did not great but a good job in my second logo for the client's Quinoa company.
2. What information did you get from your client about how to proceed with the project?
The first time that my group meet with the client we took our notebooks or binders to take notes what the client wanted in the logo or the project. The information that I got from the client about the project was that he wanted farmers working on the Quinoa's land . As well he wanted a nice text of the project with a font and size where people can read it well. Also the client wanted a logo with good information to show that you can eat Quinoaand you can replace it with rice or soup. In the other hand he also wanted  to spread this product everywhere.
3. What did you create for the comp, and what was the reaction from your client?
For my comp I did a logo that I didn't put my ideas on and it wasn't the ideas of the client for the project. And I just put a picture of Quinoa's muffins and that wasn't what the client wanted. Also the background that was two colors didn't go with the logo. And the text I only put Quinoa, when it had to be " Don Condero's Quinoa ". Plus the client's reaction has not good, he was happy that I didn't follow the notes that I took. Finally he took me what to change and to use the notes that I took in the first ingterview.
4. What changes did you make to your project?
I did a lot of changes in my project, first I start with the text font and the size so people can see what is the product. And the second thing I change the background a little, like I made the background's color lighter so the people can see is it and not with a dark color. The third thing I change was that in the second logo I did for my project was that I use two wind wills. The fourth thing that I change was that in the second logo I did I put more information. Finally, the last thing I change was the picture of the Quinoa's seed land and I put a different one.
5. How did you utilize members in your group for this project?
I utilize members in my group for this project not good and not bad, like when we did the client sheet we all walked about it. And we all chose what parts they want to do, so later we can write it on the computer. Also I walk around see like a idea I can put on my logo but different not the same as them. As well we all the work and we some came up with the question for our first interview with the project. Finally, I think we come of talk to each other and plan things more better like to help each other with the project.
6. How do you feel about the finished results of your project?
Well, I feel like I could of done more better in the finished results of my project in class. Like I think I didn't meet my goals for this project 4 and to be honest I think the teachers could have been more describing in leaving what they want. Because like on Friday we didn't know we had to present and also we didn't know that we had to save our projects in JPG. But not JPG on Adobe Photoshop, but in Adobe Indesign and as well no one did it because we didn't know. Overall I liked this project that we did and well am already with my success that I did for this project.

How to analyze advertisements ?

Name: Marco Flores                                                                                          Date: 1/30/12 Advertisement: Nike ; Will To Win.
Layout
Describe the layout of the advertisement. How is content arranged? For example, are elements arranged symmetrically or asymmetrically?
The layout of this advertisement is mostly showing the basketball player Lebron James playing basketball in a  stadium, but in this ad of Nike it shows how the sport basketball can be amazing in the country. Plus there is also the logo of Nike and it's ad quote " Will To Win "., not only that but in the left of the basketball player it shows some powerful sentences that are " YOU WILL NOTICE.YOU WILL SCREAM. BECAUSE YOU WANT IT TO HAPPEN. " And that mostly means that when something thing is going to happen you will see it and you would be happy that happen. As well I think that this ad is mostly a arranged symmetrically ad because it shows what they are trying to tell you. Or like what is the idea of this Ad that wants you to understand. Finally, it was like the Nike's logo that means that this ad came from the company of Nike.
Describe the relationship between the written (copy) and graphic elements of the advertisement.
In this advertisement the relationship between the written (copy) and the graphic elements are mostly the same but also different a little bit. Well in the written part of the advertisement of Nike, it has like two quotes or ad sentence that want the company Nike to be know like that. The one that is in big letters it the one that is next to the logo of Nike and says " Will To Win ", that's how Mike wants to get known everywhere. Plus, it has another sentences all the way to the left, but letters are small and they are like three sentences all together. That mostly talks about how the graphic elements shows that three sentences in the advertisement all the way to the left. In the other hand, in the graphic elements I think its a good picture of the advertisement. Because it shows Lebron James jumping so high and about to short and that he is playing basketball but also it shows the whole basketball can be amazing in the country. Or how the sentence " Will To Win " can be a connection to the picture, like if you use Nike you can win.
How does the advertisement use page space? Is the advertisement full of text and graphics or does it have a lot of white space?

I think the advertisement is using page space maybe by making the picture big so people can see it. And they  in this picture it shows the advertisement big in the website. And the advertisement is full of both text and graphics. Because in the background is red and a picture of Lebron James in a basketball stadium with a lot of people watching the game and the picture is in the middle, plus it has text around it. Not only, that but there is a little information in the under the picture of  Lebron James in different color and they are not big and not that small.
How does the advertisement use alignment to organize its information?
The advertisement use alignment to organize its information by lining the text around the picture and not to far from the picture so the people can see the text next to it like they are in the top, bottoms and sides.
Colors and Graphics
Describe the colors used on the advertisement. Do they work well together? Is there a high contrast ratio between text and background?
The colors that are used in the advertisement are mostly white and black around the picture. But, most white so the people can see it and it wouldn't be that dark in the text.Plus, it has a little black in the bottom to reflect the color red so the text can been seen. And Yes, they work well together with the color of the texts and the color of the background. There is a little high contrast ratio between the text and background, because the background is mostly a black color, so the text has to be the opposite of black so it can been seen what the advertisement try's to tell you.
Does the color scheme add to the purpose or tone of the advertisement? What tone or message do these colors convey?
Yes, the color scheme adds to the purpose of the tone of the advertisement. Because mostly the advertisement has the tone of light not dark. What I mean that the quote of Mike " Will To Win " is something possible not negative. The message or the tone of these colors convey that the advertisement is good and you show watch it more or learn more about it.
Is a photograph used in the advertisement? If so, what kind of shot is it? What angle is it taken from? What is the lighting like? How is color used?
Yes, a photograph of the famous basketball player Lebron James is used in the advertisement. The shot shows Lebron James jumping high and is trying to score in a basketball game. The picture is taken from a high point of view. The lighting is like normal color like you can see the colors of the basketball, the color skin of Lebron James, and the fans also.
If people or animals are in the advertisement, how would you describe them? What are they doing?
Well in this advertisement there is a famous basketball player Lebron James and I would describe him as a good example in this advertisement. Well, because it it shows him about to score in a basketball game and like the quote of Mike has something to do with win and that can be a good example.
What is the background of this advertisement? That is, where does it “take place”?
The background of this advertisement that am doing is only the color red but, on top of that there is a picture of Lebron James with a little of black background. Also in the other hand, it takes place in a basketball stadium.
What “story” do you think this advertisement is trying to tell?
I don't think this advertisement is trying to tell a story, I think its trying to tell why we should see this advertisement and what we should do.
Typography
Describe the font(s) used for each element of the advertisement. How does the advertisement use typography to distinguish among different elements (create hierarchy or emphasize a message)?
I think the front that is used in this element of this advertisement is like Bold and in the text of the bottom can be Arial. Well in this advertisement the typography doesn't really have like art, it only looks like a picture and some text on it. And with the picture it emphasize the message of Mike or why is basketball amazing in the world like the information says in the bottom of the advertisement.
Describe the font families used (name them if you can). What messages do these font families convey?
I don't know the front families that are used in this advertisement, and I don't know the message of these front families convey.
Can you see what kind of typographical formatting has been applied (tracking, kerning, leading, and so on)? What impact do these formatting elements have on the advertisement?
Well I would say that the type of typographical formatting that is applied to the advertisement is leading in the few sentences in the left of the picture. And also its the same thing in the bottom of the picture with different color. The impact that the type of typographical elements have is that they can be easy to read, like you can understand it.
Tone
How would you describe the overall feeling of this ad? What word would you use to describe it? For example, is it playful? Serious? Urgent? Hip? Glamorous? Friendly? Patriotic?
I would describe the overall feeling of this advertisement is that I think it needs a little be more of information like it can be on the text or graphic side.A word that I would describe it would be " Playful ", because Nike can is mostly a company of clothes and shoes. Plus you can use those clothes and shoes to play some sport or go to the gym or something else.
Who is this advertisement aimed at? What message does the design convey about the audience and the client that commissioned it? About the product or service?
This advertisement can aimed at people that like basketball or at the company that they make clothes also shoes to use. I think the message that the design convey the audience and the client that commissioned can be that basketball is a wonderful sport or with Mike you can win.
How does the graphic design (balance, emphasis, color, tone, and so on) communicate the content?
The graphic design communicate the content in some ways because there are some good color, but the I think it needs a little bit more of balance or emphasis as well.
